Rockport, TX Fishing Report – September 24–26, 2026

Rockport is HOT this week, and redfish are leading the charge. Reds have been crushing it across Aransas Bay all week, and with a full moon arriving Saturday, Thursday through Saturday is set up to deliver.

Bay water is sitting near 88°F. Thursday brings a northeast breeze that swings east at 10–15 knots with afternoon gusts to 20 and a slight chance of showers, so expect some chop. Friday and Saturday settle to light east and southeast winds at 5–10 knots with smooth bay water. No marine advisories are posted for Copano, Aransas, or Redfish Bays.

The best shot is Saturday from 12:17 to 2:17 PM, when the moon passes underfoot on full-moon day with calm water. Friday from 11:32 AM to 1:32 PM is a strong backup in the same smooth water. Early risers: moonset lines up with dawn Friday and Saturday.

Redfish are the headliner on the Estes Flats, Redfish Bay grass flats, and Aransas Bay shorelines, where cut mullet, live shrimp, and soft plastics are all producing. Speckled trout are a first-light play over deep grass in Aransas Bay and around the Lydia Ann Channel. Flounder are staging along Lydia Ann Channel drop-offs and Copano Bay marsh drains ahead of the fall run.

Also active: black drum on shrimp near rocks and channel edges, plus sheepshead tight to pilings and jetty structure.
