Rockport, TX Fishing Report – September 17–19, 2026

Redfish are leading the charge in Rockport this week, and the deeper edges are where it is happening. The most recent Coastal Bend reports have redfish and black drum stacking along rock edges, drop-offs and channel structure in four to six feet of water, with live shrimp fished close to the bottom doing most of the damage. Cut crab and cut mullet are worth a swing, and a popping cork over grass still gets eaten.

Bay water is holding summer-warm at 87.8°F, measured Wednesday morning at the Rockport gauge. Winds stay friendly all three days — east at 6 to 11 mph Thursday, east 7 to 13 mph Friday, and near calm Saturday morning before an east-southeast breeze fills in. No advisories were indicated for the Copano, Aransas and Redfish Bay systems at publication.

The best window is Saturday morning, 7:15 to 8:55, when the daylight solunar major lines up with the calmest water of the stretch. Friday afternoon from 1:40 to 3:10 is the backup, timed to moonrise under a sunny sky.

Redfish are good along Estes Flats, the Aransas Bay shorelines and St. Charles Bay. Speckled trout are fair over Copano Bay, the ICW grass flats and the San Jose Island shoreline. Flounder are fair and staging early on the Aransas Pass channel edges and around Goose Island State Park. Black drum and sheephead are also active on rock, pilings and jetty structure.
